Acclimatize and Virtual Meeting
You must arrive in Pereira the day before your reservation to acclimatize and have a mandatory meeting with our team. This can be in person or virtually.
This meeting will consist of an information session in which we will verify that you have the appropriate equipment to carry out the activity and in which we will give you a series of recommendations to carry out the trekking in Otún Lagoon in Los Nevados without inconvenience.
Pick-up
Our adventure begins at 5:00 a.m. in Pereira, where we'll board a 4x4 SUV that will take us to Potosí for approximately 2.5 hours. During the trip, we'll enjoy a delicious breakfast.
Entrance to the park and start of the hike to Otún Lagoon
After paying the entrance fee to the Park and receiving recommendations from the park ranger, we will begin to walk the mountain where you will be able to appreciate the characteristic flora and fauna of the Páramo and incredible views, with technical stops to hydrate and acclimatize while the guide will surprise you with his environmental interpretation of this particular ecosystem.
Arrival at the viewpoint 4.100 msnm
When you reach the lookout point, you will be able to see the Laguna and, if visibility is good, you will be able to see the Nevado Santa Isabel and the Paramillo del Quindío. We will have enough time to take photos and catch our breath before returning to the starting point.
After enjoying the great attractions of this tour, we will return to the same restaurant to have a delicious lunch.
Return to the meeting point
At the end of our lunch, we will have the final reflections of our tour and thanks from the guide, where our comfortable vehicle will be waiting for us to take us back to our meeting point.
What physical condition do I need?:
To do this trek you need to be in good physical condition. If you want to get the most out of your trip, you should be able to walk distances of 12 km. Much of the trek will be at high altitudes, so it is recommended to spend a few nights before the trek at altitudes above 2,000 m above sea level, especially if you live at sea level.
Briefing:
All briefings are done one day before the trip at your hotel, if it is a private tour or virtually if it is a group trek. Meetings last approximately 30 to 45 minutes and we check that you have everything you need, we will answer your questions about the trekking and you can additionally pay the remaining 50%.
Where can I store my main luggage?:
During the trip, you will be able to store your main luggage for free in our storage room. You can also safely store any equipment you do not need for the tour at your hotel. Almost all hotels offer this service.
Pick-up:
All pick-ups are made within the city of Pereira or Manizales, but we recommend that you book a hotel as central as possible and with a good location. If you are staying in an area far from the city center, you will have to pay an additional fee for the pick-up. Our staff will confirm the pick-up time one day before the tour.
Group tours:
Group tours are made up of different people with different physical conditions and ages. By agreeing to be part of a group tour, you acknowledge that some people may be faster or slower than you.
In some cases, the group may wish to modify the tour; however, it is up to the guide to decide, after consulting with all participants, whether such changes are possible.
Reservation and prepayment:
To book this adventure you just have to choose the desired date and book with 50% of the total, the other 50% is usually paid one day before the start of the trek at the briefing. For the first and last payment, we accept cash, credit and debit cards.
