Day 0 - Acclimatization and Virtual Meeting
You must arrive in the municipality of Salento the day before your reservation to acclimatize and have a mandatory meeting with our team. This meeting can be in person or virtually.
This meeting will consist of an information session in which we will verify that you have the appropriate equipment for the activity and provide you with a series of recommendations for completing the O Circuit in the Nevados Mountains without any problems.
Day 1 - Acclimatization Hike to La Argentina
Our adventure begins at 6:00 a.m. in Salento, at the El Brunch restaurant, where we will have a delicious breakfast. We will then board a vehicle that will take us to the Cocora Valley, a journey of approximately 25 minutes.
Once in the Cocora Valley, we will begin our ascent to an altitude of 2,400 meters above sea level. During this first hike, we will cross pastures, grasslands, and hanging bridges until we reach the humid forest, where the guide will choose the best place to have lunch.
After an 11-km uphill hike, taking approximately 5 hours, we will arrive at La Argentina, a farm located at an altitude of 3,400 meters above sea level, where we will rest and have dinner.
Day 2 - Ascent to the Paramo
We will begin our second day with a delicious country breakfast and a steep ascent to the paramo ecosystem. This place will give us the opportunity to observe the Paramillo del Quindío and the Nevado del Tolima, one of the most privileged views of the Nevados National Natural Park.
TWe'll respectfully approach the base of the imposing Paramillo del Quindío to see the remains of the snow that once inhabited this mountain. From there, we'll appreciate the volcanic rock formations that will make us feel as if we're on another planet.
Finally, the guide will choose the best spot for lunch, and at the end, we'll begin our journey along another trail. We'll arrive at La Playa Estate around 4:00 p.m., have dinner, and rest after the 14 kilometers we've hiked.
Day 3 - Descent Back to Salento
We'll begin our third and final day with a traditional breakfast at 6:00 a.m. and then embark on a 2.5-kilometer ascent to "Alto de la Virgen" (High of the Virgin); a place that will reward us with incredible panoramic views of Paramillo del Quindío and Nevado del Tolima, weather permitting.
Afterward, we'll begin the descent to the Estrella de Agua farm, where we'll take a break and have some snacks to recharge our batteries.
Then, after a short climb, we'll continue our descent to the Cocora Valley, where a vehicle will be waiting to take us to Salento for lunch.
Today's trek ends in Salento around 3:00 p.m., after a hike of just over 19 kilometers.
