Day 0 - Acclimatization and Virtual Briefing
You must arrive in the city of Pereira one day before your booking date to acclimatize and attend a mandatory briefing with our team. This meeting can be held in person or virtually.This briefing session will include an informational meeting where we will check that you have the appropriate equipment for the activity and provide a series of recommendations to ensure a smooth trekking experience from Los Nevados Potosí to Cedral.
Day 1 - Discovering Laguna del Otún
Our adventure begins at 5:00 a.m. in Pereira, where we will take a 4x4 vehicle to Potosí on a journey of approximately 2.5 hours. During the trip, we will enjoy a delicious breakfast.Once in Potosí, we will start our trek at an altitude of 3.900 m.a.s.l. During this first section, we will cover 6 km along a road leading to Laguna del Otún, where we will enjoy stunning views of Nevado Santa Isabel, Paramillo del Quindío, and, of course, Laguna del Otún. We will walk downhill for approximately 5 km until we reach Laguna del Mosquito, where the guide will choose the best spot for lunch.
After a downhill hike of 9 km, taking approximately 3.5 hours, we will arrive at Jordán, a farm located at 3.100 m.a.s.l., where we will rest and have dinner.
Day 2 - Descent through the Otún River Canyon
We will start our second day with a delicious traditional countryside breakfast and a descent through the High Andean forest. This area will give us the opportunity to observe abundant flora and fauna, as well as many waterfalls, until we reach Cedral.After enjoying the main highlights of this tour and arriving in Cedral, we will have a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.
At the end of lunch, we will have our final reflections on the tour, where our vehicle will be waiting to take us back to the city of Pereira. If it is a group tour, the vehicle will drop participants off at the Pereira bus terminal; if it is a private tour, travelers will be dropped off at the hotel.
What physical condition do I need?:
To complete this hike, it is necessary to have very good physical fitness. If you want to fully enjoy your trip, you must be able to walk distances of 18 km for several consecutive days. A large part of the hike will take place at high altitude, so it is recommended to spend a few nights before the hike at altitudes above 2.000 meters above sea level, especially if you live at sea level.Briefing meeting:
All briefing meetings take place one day before the trip at your hotel if it is a private tour, or virtually if it is a group trekking. The meetings last approximately 30 to 45 minutes, and we will check that you have everything you need, answer your questions about the trekking, and additionally you will be able to pay the remaining 50%.Where can I store my main luggage?:
During the trip, you can store your main luggage free of charge in our storage room. You can also safely store any equipment you will not need for the trek at your hotel. Almost all hotels offer this service.Pick-up in Pereira:
All pick-ups are carried out within the city of Pereira. We recommend booking a hotel as centrally located as possible and with a good location. If it is a private tour, the pick-up will be at the hotel; if it is a group tour, a meeting point will be designated for everyone. If you stay in an area far from the city center, you will need to pay an additional pick-up fee. Our staff will confirm the pick-up time one day before the tour.Return to the city of origin:
Upon arriving at Cedral, we will take private transportation to Pereira. If it is a group tour, the transportation will take travelers to the Pereira bus terminal; if it is a private tour, it will take you directly to your hotel.Group tours:
Group tours are made up of different people with different physical conditions and ages. By agreeing to be part of a group tour, you acknowledge that some people may be faster or slower than you.
In some cases, the group may wish to modify the tour; however, it is the guide’s responsibility to decide, after consulting all participants, whether such changes are possible.Reservations and advance payment:
